Community
Creating a place that supports everyday life, wellbeing and connection
This development is about more than just new homes. It will bring lasting benefits to the wider community, creating a place that supports everyday life, wellbeing and connection.
Alongside new homes, the proposals include an option to secure land for a new primary school, should one be required. At this stage, the Education Authority has indicated that a new school may not be needed until more than 1,000 homes have been built in the area. It is our intention to engage with the relevant authorities to establish a clearer position on this.
The proposals will include a local centre which could provide shops and community spaces. Together, these facilities will help make this a welcoming place where daily needs can be met close to home.
The plans also include new and improved green spaces across the site. We are exploring a range of options, including community orchards, allotments, parkland, children’s play facilities and a new sports pitch. We want to make use of the public right of way that currently dissects the site. New footpaths will improve connectivity and create a circular walking route through the enhanced green spaces.
We’re particularly keen to hear your views on what the local centre and green spaces could include, so they reflect the facilities and features local people would most like to see.

A sustainable neighbourhood
Designed for everyday life
The site will follow the principles of a sustainable neighbourhood, meaning most daily needs can be met within a short walk or cycle. This includes access to shops, schools, green spaces, healthcare and public transport. It’s a way of planning that supports healthier, more sustainable and sociable communities.

Community life
Supporting wellbeing and inclusion
Our design places a strong emphasis on creating welcoming, accessible spaces where people can connect and spend time outdoors. Green areas will support both physical and mental health, and facilities will be designed to be inclusive for people of all ages.
By encouraging interaction and providing places to meet, walk and take part in community life, we hope to help build a strong sense of belonging and contribute to the wellbeing of the wider area.
