Affordable housing

Addressing the need for affordable housing

There is a clear and growing need for affordable homes in Warwick District. As an example, on average around 133 bids are placed for each one-bedroom affordable property, showing how significant the needs are. Wait times can stretch beyond two years for some applicants.

This development will help address that challenge by delivering up to 50% affordable housing. This could include homes for social rent, affordable rent, and shared ownership, as well as other low-cost options such as First Homes – helping local people find a home that suits their needs and budget.

Sustainability

A forward-thinking approach to embracing the community

Every home will meet modern building standards and be designed with energy efficiency and low-carbon living in mind. This means they will be more affordable to run and ready for a net zero future.

The approach includes:

  • Energy-efficient design
Prioritising a fabric-first approach with well-insulated homes that maximise natural sunlight.
  • Low-carbon technology
Solar panels and air source heat pumps will be incorporated across the site.
  • Efficient water use
    Systems that reduce water consumption.
  • Sustainable construction
Responsibly sourced materials and reduced on-site waste.
  • Future-proofing
Homes designed to cope with changing weather and improve long-term resilience.

Together, these measures will help make this a lower carbon, more climate resilient community that supports Warwickshire’s ambitions for a greener future.
